What is Obon?

Obon is one of Japan's most important holiday seasons. It is a time when many Japanese people return to their hometowns to honor and remember their ancestors. Families visit graves, make offerings, and spend time together. Because many people travel during Obon, roads, trains, and airports become very busy. Many businesses also close for a few days.
